In collaboration with Umeå Marine Centre and Natural History Museum, we develop indicators and assessment criteria for zooplankton in Swedish waters and to provide recommendations for their implementation within MSFD. The proposed indicators will be adapted to the regional conditions and zooplankton community structure in Bothnian Bay, Bothnian Sea and Baltic proper using existing monitoring data. Further, using existing water quality criteria and available data on fish body condition, the region-specific reference values and zooplankton-based GES targets will be derived.
