We study processes and changes in tropical tropospheric composition and related effects on climate resulting from environmental changes taking place in the Amazon Basin and Altiplano region.

The Chacaltaya Observatory located some 20 km from La Paz, Bolivia is a result of joint effort of several institutions from Europe, USA and South America to establish comprehensive long-term observations in this part of the world where atmospheric composition observations are sparse.
