Sampling and chemical analysis are developed for measuring volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds (VOC/SVOC) in human breath. The aim is to obtain sensitive methods for human exposure measurements and non-invasive methods for the detection of markers of disease. A special designed breath air sampler has been constructed using SPME sampling, as well as adsorbent sampling and sampling of breath condensate. In a pilot study we have investigated metabolites from garlic consumption.
