bacteria green

In a co-operation with the Department of Dental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet we are developing analytical methods to study the content of porphyrins in oral bacteria and the use of Phototherapy as a tool for oral health care. The use and effect of toothbrushes with built in LED technology shall be tested for the prophylaxis and treatment of oral disease. The aim is to examine if light with a certain wavelength incorporated in a toothbrush inhibit and/or kill oral bacteria and prevent and/or reduce gingival inflammation. The project includes both basic chemical and microbiological mechanistic studies and clinical research.
