Cynthia de Wit is Lead Country Expert and co-chair (together with Canada) of the persistent organic pollutants (POPs) expert group, and member of the Assessment Steering Group (ASG) within the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP). The ASG works under the AMAP Working Group and is responsible for writing updated reports on a number of subjects prioritized by the ministers of foreign affairs of the eight Arctic countries within the Arctic Council. The updated reports address various environmental issues such as POPs, heavy metals, human health, radioactivity, oil and natural gas, PAHs, climate change, UV-radiation etc. Currently, she is leading the writing of a report on Chemicals of Emerging Arctic Concern.
