The overarching aim of this network project is to promote zooplankton-based indicators, to follow-up the implementation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan and Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and to support the international Baltic regional zooplankton monitoring. The activities include: (1) Training courses/workshops; (2) Testing the applicability of zooplankton-based indicators in the Baltic Sea, with particular focus on regional assessment; (3) Harmonization of zooplankton indicators with other food web indicators within the MSFD descriptor (D4; Food webs) and establishing a dialogue with other groups involved in indicator work; (4) Revising recommendations for zooplankton biomass assessment, which is a pre-requisite for harmonizing indicator applicability Baltic-wise.
