Today at 10:00 Jin Zhang at Umeå University will defend his thesis entitled “In silico Identification of Thyroid Hormone Disrupting Chemicals.” The opponent is professor Liang-Hong Guo from the Research Center for Eco-environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.
Jin has worked with models to predict chemicals potency to interfere with the thyroid hormones. His work has contributed to the understanding of which chemicals, above all in our indoor environment that can become health issue. He has gathered a database of more than 400 chemicals found in household dust and tested these in his model.
