Sampling campaign
In the autumn 2022 until 2024 we had a sampling campaign for FELIX
Two veterinary clinics were engaged, SLU University Animal Hospital in Uppsala and AniCura Region Animal Hospital in Bagarmossen, Stockholm. If you visited these clinics you might have be approached and asked to participate in this study.
We focus on three patient groups of cats;
- healthy control cats
- diagnosed with Feline hyperthyroidism (FH)
- suffering from diabetes mellitus (DM)
Body condition score (and thus obesity) will be evaluated using a 9-grade scale. At the clinic, blood serum and cat hair will be collected. Cortisol in cat hair will be analysed to evaluate stress, another factor that can influence the health status. To evaluate the chemical exposure from the indoor environment cat food and household dust will be collected from a selection of recruited participants.
