In some breeds, reduced fertility is a major problem. Testicular, prostate and systemic diseases, hormonal imbalance and certain medications can cause impaired sperm quality. This study aims to investigate the potential effects of PFAS exposure on sperm quality in dogs. During the fall of 2022, blood samples from Bernese mountain dogs with known reproductive status will therefore be analyzed for PFASs by Jana, in collaboration with Ida Hallberg at SLU.
