Silvia Dudasova is part of the PERFORCE3 project on PFAS. Currently she is visiting ACES for a 4 weeks secondment, and we welcome the opportunity to learn about her research. In her presentation she will introduce the techniques she uses to characterise PFAS in biological and environmental samples, and focus mainly on the approaches used in suspect and non-targeted analysis.

Enrichment of biogenic and anthropogenic organic substances on sea spray aerosols
Nikola Radoman will publically defend his thesis “Enrichment of biogenic and anthropogenic organic substances on sea spray aerosols.”
Aerosol Mass Spectrometry Measurements for Essential Climate and Air Pollution Variables
Aerosol plays a significant role in climate, air quality and human health, which makes it one of the most important and studied components in the atmosphere, nevertheless, its effects are still poorly quantified. A significant improvement has been made with an introduction of an Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS), which proved to be a powerful tool for studying the aerosol effects. …
The Great Rewetting: why we must stop draining peatlands – worldwide and as fast as possible
The Bert Bolin Lecture on Climate Research is given annually to commemorate professor Bert Bolin and his pioneering work for climate research at Stockholm University and internationally. The speaker is selected among prominent scientists within climate research by the Faculty of Science. This years honorable speaker is Professor Hans Joosten. The lecture is open for all who register and aimed …

Identifying Toxicologically Significant Compounds in Environmental Samples using in Vitro Bioassays and High Resolution Mass Spectrometry
High resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) offers the opportunity to use a single analysis to simultaneously measure concentrations of target compounds, screen for suspect compounds against large exact mass and/or MS/MS databases, and to look for unique marker compounds prior to their identification (non-target analysis). Statistical analysis of aligned nontarget feature abundances against bioassay activity offers a means for prioritizing identification …
Adventures of a Chemist in Toxicology: DNA Adducts, Epigenetic Marks, and Proteins Trapped on DNA Strands
ACES Science Seminar Prof. Tretyakova is an analytical chemist, chemical toxicologist, and cancer researcher. Her research interests are in the areas of chemical biology, epidemiology, and medicinal chemistry. The Tretyakova lab uses cutting edge mass spectrometry and chemical biology techniques to investigate the chemical and enzymatic reactions taking place in the genome as a result of exposure to environmental chemicals, cigarette …
