How can molecular dynamics simulations give insights into microscopic structures and dynamics? I’ll give three examples from past and ongoing projects to advertise simulations and illustrate how they can complement experimental results. The examples will touch upon

1) Ice growth kinetics: the accommodation of vapour molecules into ice surfaces

2) Structures of water at interfaces: promotion or inhibition of ice nucleation?

3) Oleic acid: interactions with water and graphene

The focus of this presentation is on illustrations to provoke thinking on the molecular scale.
